Sell your old mobile phone for profit
When you get a brand shiny new mobile phone, what do you do with your old one? Do you throw it in the bin? Sling it in a drawer somewhere and forget about it? Or do you sell it on or donate it to charity? In case you’re one of the thousands of people who are still doing one of the first two things, here are some ideas for you of places that accept mobile phones.
Envirophone

envirofone was one of the first online mobile phone recycling sites, in the last year it has paid over £1.5 million to people for their old phones. Envirofone.com is free to use, pays you cash for your old mobile and helps the environment by making sure that these working phones go where they can be used instead of into landfill. Select your phone from the list and they will tell you how much they will pay you for it.
T-mobile fonebak

T-mobile’s fonebak will pay up to £80 either to you or to a charity of your choice in exchange for your old phone. Helping to save it once again from going to landfill, instead your phone will go to someone in a developing country who will be able to make good use of it. The site takes you through what they’ll pay for your phone and how to send it to them.
Money 4ur Mobile
http://www.redeemplc.com/money4urmobile/index.htm
Money 4UR Mobile will give you up to £150 for your used mobile phone. They have a database with 1000’s of phones listed so it’s easy to see what they’d pay you.
Cex
Cex is a site that buys sells and exchanges items including mobile phones. Not quite like the sites above, it is still worth looking at if you have an old phone to sell.
Tesco & Sainsburys
Both these two stores offer a points back service on old mobile phones, and this is worth doing if you just want to recycle the phone and keep it out of land fill, but if you want a decent price for it I’d suggest trying all other options first, although of the two, sainsburys does seem to offer the better amount of points as they vary what they will give you according to your phone.
There are more and more sites out there who will buy your old phone so for more ideas, have a hunt on a search engine. Or, for some alternative ideas, you could sell it on ebay, or at a car boot sale – this takes a bit more work, but will probably get you the best price for your money. Or you could see if anyone you know is looking to buy something… maybe send a text or e-mail to all your friends. If you’re looking to buy a new phone, it might be worth seeing if you can trade your old one in for it. Car phone warehouse and some other companies are willing to offer trade in on some phones, but not all, so worth asking, but don’t be surprised if they say no.
